Almost a week with Ask SQLTeam

I launched the updated Ask SQLTeam almost a week ago and I’ve noticed a few interesting things. First, a big thank you to the people answering questions.  As people answer questions and their answers are voted up they get “reputation”.  Right now the top 3 users in terms of…

Logging into Ask SQLTeam using your forum account

Last week we launched Ask SQLTeam [http://ask.sqlteam.com/] as an alternative to our forums.  One of the interesting features of the site is that it uses OpenID as a login mechanism.  Google and Yahoo both support OpenID and you can use them to login.  What I really wanted…

Announcing the return of Ask SQLTeam

I stared SQLTeam.com nearly ten years ago.  I wanted to build a place where people could learn about SQL Server.  In the early days we had something called "Ask SQLTeam".  People could submit questions and we'd use those to get ideas for articles.  We tried…

My apologies for the broken newsletter links

I use a custom application to generate the SQLTeam newsletter each week.  It pulls out the blog posts I’ve flagged during the week and some recent forum posts.  This week I was in the process of making some updates to the software and so I used my shiny new…

Congratulations Derek

I wanted to congratulate Derek Comingore [http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/derekc/] on being named an MVP.  He's a regular blogger here on SQLTeam.com on Business Intelligence topics.  It's great to see community participation acknowledged by Microsoft.…

If you visit the blogs of Jeff Smith [http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/jeffs/] and Mladen Prajdić [http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenp/] you'll notice they are now running the same ads as the main site.  They were both running generic Google ads prior to this.  We were able to…

Blog Updates

I finally updated the software on this site to the latest SubText build.  That has better software to prevent spam.  I also updated the CAPTCHA to be case-insensitive and deleted over 40,000 pieces of spam from our comments.  I still have a little ways to go on the spam…

Weblog Software Upgraded

I've upgraded the weblog software on the site to SubText [http://www.subtextproject.com].  All the feeds should stay the same.  Most of the blogs will look nicer once the posters choose a new skin.  We should also see less spam on the site.  Please let me know…
